About
Welcome to Steve’s Olympic Training Website. OK, so for those of you who have never heard of me, that will be because I represent the 60Million or so obscure people in the UK who, while they probably support and admire the idea of the Olympics, probably never thought of taking part in the sport.
I’m not purporting to be an Olympian (yet) but the web name was chosen because I believe there are 1000’s of potential athletes in the UK who are undiscovered. How many of you can say that you have reached your performance limits? Some of you like me, may have achieved in the past, but got jobs and let your standards slip.
I have one agenda, to maximise my performance, to find my limits. And along the way, I want to record how I’m feeling, physically and psychologically as I make progress towards my goals.
My chosen sport, will be Triathlon. I have chosen this as I have history as a good runner (though I was 2.5stone lighter then). For those who are unsure, Triathlon is Swimming, Cycling, and Running in that order, in one race.
My challenges should not be understated. I am currently overweight, have a shoulder injury, poor diet (like most of us!), I don’t have a bike and I can’t swim. Nothing like a good challenge.
It’s not all bad news for me, I have two assets which will help me get in shape, a goal to be an elite standard triathlete this year, and unshakable self belief.
I hope you enjoy reading this blog and please email me or leave your thoughts on the site. If I can be an inspiration to anyone and convince them that a fitter lifestyle is the way to go, I will have achieved something very special.
